Babyproofing Your Accommodations

For those of you traveling with a baby you will have a whole world of precautions to take to keep your baby safe. When you make your reservations for a vacation rental make sure you let the rental company know that you will be traveling with your baby. There are some vacation rentals that provide baby equipment (cribs, highchairs, play yards, etc.) in their rentals for no extra charge. When you’re browsing accommodations check the list of amenities to see if they’re mentioned.

Depending on how mobile your baby is you may need to move objects that are in easy reach to avoid breakage and to keep your baby safe. Definitely put all glass objects up and out of reach.

When choosing a room where your baby will sleep at the Surfside Beach SC resort that you’ve chosen, pick one that is away from the most noise. You’ll want the baby’s room close by your bedroom though so don’t choose a rental with split bedrooms. While that’s beneficial when you have teens it doesn’t work as well with infants and small children that require closer attention to their needs.

If your baby is mobile and there are no safety plugs in the electrical outlets pick up your own at any nearby grocery or drug store and insert them in all outlets within reach. They’re inexpensive and the life you save may be your child’s.

Once your accommodations are fully babyproofed you can get on with the business of having an enjoyable and relaxing vacation with your baby. We’ll see you on the beach!
