5 Ways To Stay Fit On Vacation

Going on vacation often means a lot of high-calorie meals, days spent lounging in the sun, and nights on the couch. The average person can gain 4-6 pounds on a week’s vacation if they’re not careful! Avoid sabotaging all the work you did to get your body beach ready, and incorporate these simple tips into your vacation to avoid packing on the pounds.

1. Take A Tour Of The Town

One of the best things about being in the Myrtle Beach area is that there are so many things to see and do! Instead of driving and paying to park in garages or taxis, rent a bike and ride on the beach, or go for a lengthy stroll along the boardwalk. Staying active while sightseeing feels like fun instead of work, and is a great way to burn a few calories without visiting a gym.

2. Go With A Group

Everyone could use a little extra motivation sometimes, and having someone in your corner to workout with is a great incentive. Try scheduling sunrise or sunset runs on the beach with a friend. If no one in your group wants to run with you, make new friends in the Grand Strand Running Club, a local runners group that meets up around the area several times a week for group running sessions.

3. Cook Your Own Meals

A great way to save money and calories is to cook your own meals instead of going out to eat every night. Our beach rentals have spacious kitchens, perfect for whipping up some delicious and healthy beach recipes! Plus, there’s nothing better after a long day of fun in the sun, than a nice family dinner around the dining room table!

4. Create Your Own Routine

Not into running? There are plenty of low-impact exercises that can be done without having to leave the comfort of your air-conditioned beach rental. Try doing a set of squats in the sunroom, pushups on the porch, leg lifts in the living room, and burpees in the bedroom for a full body workout that you can do in under 30 minutes! Plan to do 3 sets of 15 reps for best results.

5. Play With Your Kids

One of the easiest ways to get plenty of exercise on vacation is by trying to keep up with your kids! Swim with them, run around with them on the beach, help them to build sandcastles… the opportunities are endless. You’ll spend a rewarding day making memories with your children, and you’ll stay fit at the same time. Just imagine how well you’ll sleep at the end of the day!
