If you’re planning on being here for the Beach Blast Christian Music Festival in downtown Myrtle Beach on May 19, 2012, be sure to check out one of our many available Surfside Beach beach houses to stay in. If you enjoy eating crabs you might also want to drive over to Little River and take in the Blue Crab Festival taking place May 19 and 20th. The festival will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Water Front Ave. The event promises live music, arts and crafts, food (including delicious steamed blue crabs), and activities for both families and kids. Join in for a weekend of great music from beach to blues to everything in between.

Earth Day began on April 22, 1970 and was an overwhelming success. The event brought to light the importance of environmental issues as a concern for all communities as well as an international political priority. For many of those participating from the South Carolina coast to the coast of California and everywhere in between, Earth Day marked a turning point in their lives, when blind consumption and industrial waste could no longer be tolerated.

For over 40 years now, Earth Day has resonated on both a personal and political level. In months following that first grassroots event celebrating Earth Day, the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Air Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act and dozens of other pieces of legislation have been passed. When Earth Day went global in 1990 as an international event, the world embraced it with the same enthusiasm as Americans did in 1970.

Bands on the schedule include Long Reef, Dot Dot Dot, Downstroke, Gas Station Disco and Hip Kitty. Admission is free.

On Monday, April 16, 2012, the Trio Dinner Coastal Culinary Experience takes some of the Myrtle Beach Area's top Executive chefs and pairs them with local students — one high school and one college — enrolled in the Culinary Arts Program. The three work together to create culinary masterpieces for one amazing meal at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel. A silent auction will be held during the dinner event. Student tickets are $25, Singles are $85, a Couples Package is available for $160, an 8-ticket table package is $600 or a 10-ticket table supporter package is $750. The trio Dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 16 at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel, which is in close proximity to our Surfside Beach SC resorts.

Annual Rentals in Surfside Beach

If you’re staying in the area indefinitely and are in need of housing we have some reasonable Surfside Beach annual rentals that are furnished or not. Our rentals range in price from $610 to $850 and are two and three bedroom units.

One of our nicer Surfside Beach annual rentals is located at South Bay Lakes on Clearwater Drive (right). This second floor condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and has all appliances. Rent includes water and sewer along with trash pick up. Tenant pays electric and cable. A security deposit of $750 is required. This is a non-smoking property and pets are not allowed. Deposit will be forfeited if any smoking in condo.

Tradewinds (left) is another of our Surfside Beach annual rentals located behind Crabby Mike's on 2nd Ave. N. ext 1105. Rent includes access to community swimming pool, washer and dryer, trash pick up and water. No pets allowed in this 2 bedroom, 2 bath non-furnished condo. Security deposit of $915 is required.

On March 24, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. come and enjoy an afternoon of food, fun, games and more at the 5th Annual Taste of the Coast at Barefoot Landing. Risen Christ Lutheran School and the entertainment complex team up each year to bring together a fun family event. Local restaurants offer samples of their fabulous dishes and kids can hang out in the "Kid Zone" with inflatables, pony rides, games, face painters and more. Admission is $1 for adults and food and ride tickets are $1. Kids get in free and adults can get in free by bringing in one canned good.

Whether you’re coming here for a Myrtle Beach vacation or you're in the area for business, if you're a fitness buff you’re going to want to know about the marathon taking place not far from where you're staying on your Myrtle Beach vacation the weekend of February 16-18. The 15th Annual Myrtle Beach Marathon Weekend is going on and you’re welcome to join in any of the following events happening close to you while you're on your Myrtle Beach vacation.

It's easy to register online for the 15th Annual Myrtle Beach Marathon Weekend taking place February 16-18, 2012. As in the past there will also be the BI-LO Marathon, Dasani Half Marathon, RBC Bank 5K run/walk and Ripley's Family Fun Run going on all weekend with an post race party at the House of Blues on that Saturday for adults 21 and up. Register early for big savings and remember to check in at the Spirit Airlines Runners Expo. The marathon and half marathon will begin at the intersection of 21st Avenue North and Grissom Parkway. The 5K and Family Fun Run will start at Broadway at the Beach near Ripley's Aquarium.

The Spirit Airlines Runners Expo will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 16 and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, February 17. ?The BI-LO Myrtle Beach Marathon and Dasani Half Marathon will be held at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, February 18.
