As in the past there will also be the BI-LO Marathon, Dasani Half Marathon, RBC Bank 5K run/walk and Ripley's Family Fun Run going on all weekend with an post race party at the House of Blues on that Saturday for adults 21 and up. Register early for big savings and remember to check in at the Spirit Airlines Runners Expo. The marathon and half marathon will begin at the intersection of 21st Avenue North and Grissom Parkway. The 5K and Family Fun Run will start at Broadway at the Beach near Ripley's Aquarium.

The Spirit Airlines Runners Expo will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 16 and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, February 17. ?The BI-LO Myrtle Beach Marathon and Dasani Half Marathon will be held at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, February 18. The RBC Bank 5K will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, February 17. The Ripley's Family Fun Run will start at 5:30 p.m. Friday, February 17.

If you’re in town staying at our Myrtle Beach rentals and looking for things to do be sure to check out the tours that Brookgreen Gardens has through their Silent Cities at 12 noon and 2:30 p.m. every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday through March 1. You can take a ride on Brookgreen Gardens new Trekker through little known roads to their Silent Cities. On the tour you'll walk through the graveyards of former slaves and plantation owners as well as learn about the burial customs of the people from that time. Tickets are $15 in addition to garden admission for the two-hour tour. Reservations are recommended.

Every school-age child goes wild for two things – summer break and SNOW DAYS! While the odds of a snow day in Myrtle Beach are pretty slim, the Children’s Museum of South Carolina is doing their part to see to it that every child has the opportunity to play in the snow this winter by hosting their annual Snow Day at the Beach event!

Snow Day at the Beach will be held Monday, January 16 2012 at the Children’s Museum of South Carolina, from 9AM to 3PM. Kids visiting the museum that day can ice skate at the museum’s indoor hockey rink, or participate in a snowball fight or two with real snow. What better way to enjoy the long weekend than with a trip to the beach – complete with a snow day?

The Children’s Museum of South Carolina has been entertaining and educating student groups, families and thousands of other patrons and visitors in the Grand Strand since they opened their doors in 1994. In 1200 square feet of open space, children are openly invited to satisfy their curiosities as they “Touch, Explore, and Play” to learn. CMSC is committed to education and to serving South Carolina and its communities with by providing a venue through which students can engage in explorative play.
