Benefits of Spending Your Winter In Myrtle Beach

Is the weather outside your window frightful? Throughout most of the country, temperatures are dropping and snow is beginning to fall. Meanwhile, we're enjoying beach days in the mild South Carolina weather, and you can join us! See the benefits of spending your winter in Myrtle Beach:

Get more sunshine

Lack of exposure to sunlight is one of the leading causes of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) While it might not be bikini weather, winter at the beach still offers more opportunities to soak up some sunshine and improve your mood! Not only will the additional sunlight fight off the winter blues, the ocean air and sound of the sea has also been proven to have psychological benefits.

Stay in shape

While the sub-zero temperatures in other parts of the country might deter many from working out, the cooler but mild weather in Myrtle Beach is perfect for getting active. You can go for a jog on the beach, or take a swim in colder water (which is actually very good for you). If swimming isn't for you, you can find basketball games to join and sand volleyball courts year round.

All the activities without the crowds

Myrtle Beach is wonderful any time of year, but it certainly is nice to explore the town without the bustling summer crowds. Many of the loved attractions including the SkyWheel and Ripley's Aquarium. You can also knock out some of your holiday shopping at our outlet malls and boardwalk stores. Add in shorter waits at your favorite restaurants and less crowded golf courses and you've got a month of excitement planned out.

Find rental deals

If the above reasons aren't enough to convince you, how about the idea of saving money on vacation properties? Many of our rental houses and condos offer discounted weekly rates in the off season and some even offer month-long stays for an unbeatable price. Find some of our ongoing specials here, or contact our office at 800-833-8231 for a list of all monthly winter rental properties.

In Murrell's Inlet, Miss Chris will guide you on an inlet walking tour where she will tell you tales of The Gray Man and Alice Fagg. Tours are held Wednesday-Sunday.

Cooking at the beach!

While Myrtle Beach does have its fair share of delicious restaurants, sometimes nothing is better than a home-cooked meal after spending the day in the sun. Surfside Realty has many houses perfect for the chef of the family.

Crown Jewel is a particular favorite, with its large, open kitchen and tons of counter space. The oceanfront dining room completes a perfect backdrop for any family meal. Enjoy your dessert poolside or on the covered porch overlooking the beach. If you want to experience a truly southern meal, try your hand at making a Lowcountry Boil with fresh corn, shrimp, sausage, and potatoes.

There's no better house for a classic oyster roast than Manatee Mansion. The large kitchen inside is complimented by a gas grille and tiki bar adjacent to the private pool. Grab a shucker and enjoy grilled oysters poolside. There's plenty of outdoor seating for your family and friends, or you can enjoy the view from two of the large front porches.

Not sure where to buy ingredients? The Waccamaw Market Cooperative provides Farmer's Markets around town through the end of October. Grab snacks from a variety of vendors while you stock up on fresh produce from local farms. Artisans will be selling their unique crafts, so it's also a perfect place to pick up a souvenir from your trip.
